  • 1 packet Taco seasoning Homemade seasoning can be used for a fresher taste.
  • 1 cup Shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend) Other cheese options include Monterey Jack or pepper jack for heat.
  • 1/2 cup Diced tomatoes Fresh or canned tomatoes work well; consider adding jalapeños for spice.
  • 1/4 cup Chopped green onions Can substitute with chives for a milder flavor.
  • For serving Sour cream Greek yogurt makes a healthier alternative.
  • For serving Salsa Fresh salsa or pico de gallo enhances the freshness.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Spray a muffin tin with cooking spray.
  • Press a wonton wrapper into each muffin cup to form a cup.

Cooking the Filling

  • In a skillet, brown the meat over medium heat, then drain excess fat.
  • Add taco seasoning and water as per packet instructions. Simmer until thickened.

Assembling the Taco Cups

  • Spoon the meat mixture into each wonton cup, then top with cheese, tomatoes, and green onions.

Baking

  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until edges are golden and cheese is melted.

Serving

  • Serve warm with sour cream and salsa.

Notes

Ensure the wonton wrappers are well-sprayed with cooking spray to avoid sticking. Don’t overfill the cups to prevent overflow. Bake wonton cups briefly for extra crispiness. Use a thermometer to check meat doneness at 165°F (73.9°C). Add black beans or corn for added texture.
