Ingredients

Veggies

  • 2 large potatoes Peel and dice
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

Aromatics

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Spices

  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper

Frying

  • as needed oil for frying

Instructions

Preparation

  • Peel and dice the potatoes into even pieces so they cook uniformly.
  • Place potatoes in a pot, cover with water, and boil until fork-tender, about 10–15 minutes.
  • Drain well, then mash the potatoes in a bowl until mostly smooth with a few small lumps.
  • Stir in the chopped onion, minced garlic, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper until combined.

Cooking

  • Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  • Form mixture into small patties and fry until golden brown on each side, about 3–4 minutes per side.
  • Drain on paper towels before serving.

Notes

Dry the potatoes well after boiling to prevent soggy patties. Use medium heat when frying to get a golden crust without burning. If patties fall apart, add a small spoonful of flour or an egg to bind. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheat in a skillet for best texture.
