  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger, minced Adds warmth and depth.
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch For thickening the sauce.
  • 2 tablespoons Water To mix with cornstarch.

Serving Ingredients

  • Cooked rice White or brown rice both work well.
  • Green onions Chopped, for garnish.
  • Sesame seeds For garnish, adds crunch.

Preparation

  • Place chicken breasts in the slow cooker.
  • Mix teriyaki sauce, soy sauce, honey, garlic, and ginger in a bowl. Pour the mixture over the chicken.
  • Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or high for 3-4 hours until the chicken is cooked through.
  • Remove the chicken and shred it with two forks.
  • Mix cornstarch with water in a small bowl and stir into the sauce in the slow cooker.
  • Return shredded chicken to the slow cooker and mix well.
  • Serve over rice and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

Use fresh ginger and garlic for a more vibrant flavor in the sauce. Shred the chicken while it is still warm for easier handling. Let the sauce simmer for a few extra minutes after thickening to enhance its flavor. Consider marinating the chicken in the sauce overnight for an even deeper flavor infusion. Pile on the sesame seeds for an authentic presentation.
