Ingredients

Dough and Filling

  • 1 can Refrigerated crescent dough Use standard crescent sheet or triangle can; biscuits can work as alternative.
  • 1 pound Breakfast sausage (pork or plant-based) Use mild or spicy depending on preference; turkey sausage reduces fat.
  • 2 cups Prepared gravy Use homemade sausage gravy or store-bought country gravy for speed.
  • 1 cup Shredded cheese Cheddar recommended; Monterey Jack or Pepper Jack adds creaminess or heat.
  • 1/2 cup Milk Adjust thickness of gravy with more or less milk.
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder Add onion powder for extra savory depth.
  • Salt and pepper Season carefully if using store-bought gravy which may be salty.

Garnish

  • Fresh parsley For garnish (optional); chives or green onions also work well.

Instructions

Prepare the Sausage and Gravy

  • Preheat the oven according to the crescent dough package instructions.
  • Cook the sausage in a large skillet over medium heat until browned and crumbly.
  • Drain excess grease from the cooked sausage into a safe container and discard the liquid.
  • Stir the prepared gravy, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper into the skillet with the sausage, mixing thoroughly.
  • Simmer the sausage and gravy mixture for two to three minutes while stirring to blend flavors completely.

Assemble the Brunch Ring

  • Unroll the crescent dough and arrange it in a circular shape on a baking sheet, overlapping the edges slightly.
  • Spoon the sausage and gravy mixture evenly over the crescent dough, leaving a one-inch border uncovered.
  • Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the top of the sausage and gravy mixture in an even layer.
  • Fold the overlapping dough edges over the filling and pinch to seal along the ring perimeter.

Bake and Serve

  • Bake the assembled ring in the preheated oven until the dough is golden brown, about 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Let the ring cool slightly on a wire rack for five minutes before slicing to maintain shape.
  • Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired and serve warm at your brunch gathering.

Notes

Tip: For cleaner slices, chill the assembled ring for 10 minutes before baking.
