Ingredients

Fruits

  • 4 ripe pears, peeled, cored, and halved Choose ripe but firm pears for the best texture.

Pantry Items

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 sheet puff pastry Use thawed if frozen.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 scoop ice cream Pairs beautifully with the tart.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat and add the sugar. Cook until the mixture turns a golden caramel color.
  • Place the pear halves cut side down in the caramel and cook for about 5 minutes.
  • Roll out the puff pastry and place it over the pears, tucking the edges into the skillet.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes before inverting onto a serving plate.
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Consider garnishing with a sprinkle of cinnamon or a drizzle of caramel sauce for extra sweetness. For a unique twist, try using apples or peaches instead of pears.
