Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • Zest of 2 lemons Use fresh lemons for best flavor.
  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice Fresh lemon juice is recommended.
For the Glaze
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons lemon juice Adjust to taste for tartness.

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the melted butter and granulated sugar until well combined.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Add the flour, salt, lemon zest, and lemon juice to the mixture. Mix until just combined; do not overmix.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted into the center.
  7. Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan.
  8. To make the glaze, whisk the powdered sugar with 2-3 tablespoons of lemon juice until you achieve a smooth consistency.
  9. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled brownies for a beautiful finish.
  10. Cut into squares and serve to enjoy!

Notes

Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for an indulgent treat. They can also be garnished with additional lemon zest or candied lemon slices for a sophisticated touch.
