Ingredients

Filling Ingredients

  • 8 oz Cream Cheese Softened; can substitute with ricotta for a different texture.
  • 6 oz Crab Meat Drained and flaked; imitation crab can be used as a budget-friendly option.
  • 2 Green Onions Finely chopped; scallions also work well.
  • 1 Garlic Clove Minced; fresh garlic enhances the flavor.
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire Sauce Adds depth of flavor; soy sauce can be a substitute.
  • 1 package Wonton Wrappers Available in most grocery stores; dumpling wrappers can be used instead.
  • Vegetable Oil or Canola Oil For frying; use oil with a high smoke point for frying.
  • Salt To taste; adjust according to personal preference.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Mix cream cheese, crab meat, green onions, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, and salt in a bowl until well combined.

Filling and Sealing

  • Take a wonton wrapper and place a spoonful of the filling in the center.
  • Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water, fold it in half diagonally, and press to seal.

Cooking

  • Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat until it reaches the right frying temperature.
  • Fry the crab rangoon in batches for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  • Remove the fried rangoon and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with sweet and sour sauce or soy sauce.

Notes

Ensure the cream cheese is softened for a smooth filling. Avoid overfilling the wrappers to prevent bursting during frying. Maintaining the oil temperature is key for optimal frying. Consider doubling the wrappers for extra crunch. Experiment with spices for added flavor.
