Wet Ingredients

  • 2 large Eggs Room temperature.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract Adds flavor depth.
  • 1 tablespoon Green food coloring Adjust for desired color intensity.
  • 1 teaspoon White vinegar Activates the baking soda.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  • In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking soda, cocoa powder, and salt.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the vegetable oil, buttermilk, eggs, vanilla extract, green food coloring, and white vinegar.
  • Gradually mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined.
  • Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.

Baking

  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

Frosting

  • Frost with cream cheese frosting or your preferred frosting and serve.

Notes

Use room temperature ingredients for best results. Measure flour accurately to prevent dense cakes. Do not over-mix the batter to keep it tender.
