Ingredients

Produce
  • 1.5 pounds Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved Use fresh Brussels sprouts for best texture and flavor.
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced Fresh garlic is recommended for maximum flavor.
Fats
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted For a richer flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil Can substitute with other oils if desired.
Seasonings
  • 0.5 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon red-pepper flakes Optional, adds some heat.
Acid
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice Adds brightness to the dish.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Rinse and trim the Brussels sprouts, then slice them in half and pat dry.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter, olive oil, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and red-pepper flakes.
  3. Add the halved Brussels sprouts to the bowl, tossing until coated.
Cooking
  1. Spread the sprouts cut-side down on a baking sheet. Roast for 20–25 minutes until golden-brown and tender.
  2. Drizzle with fresh lemon juice before serving.

Notes

Ensure that the Brussels sprouts are dry after washing for maximum crispiness. Don't overcrowd the baking sheet for even roasting. Use fresh garlic for better flavor, and consider experimenting with other seasonings for variations.
