- Cut the sponge cake or ladyfingers into pieces and place a layer at the bottom of a large glass trifle bowl.
- Drizzle with fruit juice or sherry if using.
- Add a layer of custard over the cake.
- Add a layer of mixed berries on top of the custard.
- Repeat the layers until the bowl is full, finishing with a layer of whipped cream on top.
- Garnish with chocolate shavings or extra fruit.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least an hour before serving.
Notes
Serve chilled with a sprig of mint or powdered sugar. Great with tea or coffee. Use quality ingredients for better flavor. You can add chocolate chips or nuts for extra texture.
