  • 2 large Large Apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp recommended)

  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour Can substitute with almond flour for gluten-free
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs (Panko breadcrumbs for extra crunch)
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon Enhances flavor
  • 1/2 teaspoon Sugar Optional
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt Balances sweetness

Other Ingredients

  • 1 large Egg, beaten Acts as a binding agent
  • Oil for frying Can use vegetable or canola oil

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  • In one bowl, mix flour, cinnamon, sugar, and salt. In another bowl, place the beaten egg. In a third bowl, put the breadcrumbs.

Coating and Cooking

  • Dip each apple slice first in the flour mixture, then in the egg, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.
  • Fry the coated apple slices in the hot oil until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
  • Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.

Serving

  • Serve warm as a snack.

Notes

Choose firm apples that are not overly ripe for the best texture. For an extra flavor kick, consider adding a pinch of nutmeg to the flour mixture. Let the oil heat thoroughly before adding the apple slices to ensure even cooking. Space the apple slices in the pan to prevent steaming and promote crispness. Adjust the frying time based on the thickness of the apple slices for optimal doneness.
