  • 1 Egg Acts as a binder for the cakes.
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard For a hint of tang.
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce Enhances umami flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning A classic seasoning for seafood.
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black pepper Adds subtle heat.
  • 2 Green onions, chopped Add freshness and color.
  • Oil for frying Use vegetable or canola oil.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, combine crab meat, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, egg, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, black pepper, and green onions. Mix gently until combined.
  • Form the mixture into patties that are about 1/2 inch thick.
  • Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
  • Fry the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and crispy.
  • Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

Use fresh crab meat for the best flavor and texture. Don't overmix the crab mixture to keep the cakes tender. Chill the patties for at least 30 minutes before frying to help them hold their shape. Heat the oil to the right temperature to ensure even frying. Experiment with different dipping sauces like tartar or a spicy remoulade for added flavor.
