Ingredients

Crust
  • 2 cups crushed chocolate cookies
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
Cream Cheese Layer
  • 1 8 oz package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup whipped topping
Pudding Layer
  • 2 3.4 oz packages instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 3 cups milk
Topping
  • 1 cup whipped topping (for topping)
  • Chocolate shavings or chips (optional, for garnish)

Method

Make the crust
  1. In a bowl, combine crushed chocolate cookies and melted butter. Press mixture into the bottom of a 9×13 inch dish to form the crust.
Prepare the cream layer
  1. In another bowl, beat together the cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Fold in 1 cup of whipped topping. Spread this mixture over the cookie crust.
Mix the pudding
  1. In a separate bowl, whisk the chocolate pudding mix with milk until thickened. Pour this over the cream cheese layer and spread evenly.
Add the topping
  1. Top with the remaining whipped topping, spreading gently to cover the pudding layer.
Chill to set
  1. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or until set.
Garnish and serve
  1. Before serving, garnish with chocolate shavings or chips if desired.

Notes

Use softened cream cheese for a lump-free cream layer. Press the crust firmly so it holds together when sliced. Chill at least 4 hours or overnight for clean slices and best flavor. Add fresh raspberries or strawberries for brightness and drizzle a little caramel or chocolate sauce for extra decadence.
