Chia Seed Jam

Ingredients
  

Fruit base

  • 1-2 cups fresh fruit (strawberries, blueberries, or raspberries), hulled or stemmed and roughly chopped Use ripe fruit for best sweetness.

Thickener & sweetener

  • 2-3 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1-2 tbsp honey or maple syrup (optional, adjusted to taste) Start with less sweetener; adjust after it thickens.

Adjusters & optional

  • 1-2 tbsp water (to loosen if needed) Add incrementally if the jam is too thick.
  • 1 pinch lemon zest or a squeeze of lemon juice (optional) Brightens flavor.

Preparation

  • In a bowl, mash the fresh fruit until it reaches your desired consistency.
  • Stir in the chia seeds and sweetener if using.
  • Add water to adjust the thickness to your preference.
  • Let the mixture sit for about 15-30 minutes until it thickens.
  • Store in a jar and refrigerate for up to one week. Enjoy on toast, oatmeal, or as a snack!

Notes

This jam is adaptable – use frozen fruit if fresh isn’t available, and store in small containers for freezing.
