  • 3 tbsp Soy sauce Adjust to taste for saltiness.
  • 2 tbsp Oyster sauce Vegetarian option available.
  • 2 tbsp Sesame oil Enhances flavor; substitute with vegetable oil if needed.

Aromatics

  • 3 cloves Garlic Minced for better flavor absorption.
  • 1 inch Ginger Freshly grated is best.
  • 2 Green onions Chopped for garnish.

Optional Protein

  • 1 cup Cooked protein Choose chicken, shrimp, or tofu.

Preparation

  • Cook chow mein noodles according to package instructions, drain and set aside.
  • In a large pan or wok, heat sesame oil over medium heat.
  • Add minced garlic and ginger, sauté until fragrant.
  • Add mixed vegetables and stir-fry until tender.
  • Add cooked noodles to the pan along with soy sauce and oyster sauce.
  • Toss everything together and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  • If using, add cooked protein and mix well.
  • Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.

Notes

Use fresh vegetables for the best crunch and flavor. Ensure your pan or wok is hot before adding the oil for a seared taste. Don't overcook the vegetables; they should be vibrant and still slightly crisp. For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes or your favorite hot sauce. Feel free to experiment with different sauces; hoisin sauce can add a sweet twist.
