Ingredients

For the churro dough

  • 1 cup All-purpose flour Can substitute with gluten-free flour
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1/4 cup Unsalted butter Can use margarine as an alternative
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 2 large Eggs

For the coating

  • 1/2 cup Granulated sugar For coating churros
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon Adds flavor to the coating

For the chocolate dip

  • 1/2 cup Dark chocolate chips Can use milk chocolate for a sweeter option
  • 1/2 cup Heavy cream For chocolate dip

Miscellaneous

  • As needed Non-stick cooking spray For air fryer trays

Instructions

Make the Churro Dough

  • In a saucepan, combine water, butter, salt, and sugar. Bring to a boil, then stir in flour until it forms a ball.

Cool the Mixture

  • Remove the saucepan from heat and let it cool slightly.

Add Eggs to the Dough

  • Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until smooth.

Pipe the Churros

  • Pipe small bite-sized churros onto parchment-lined air fryer trays using a piping bag.

Prepare for Frying

  • Spray churros with non-stick cooking spray.

Air Fry

  • Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 10 minutes until golden brown.

Coat in Cinnamon Sugar

  • In a separate bowl, mix granulated sugar and cinnamon. Toss cooked churros in the cinnamon mixture.

Make the Chocolate Dip

  • For the chocolate dip, heat heavy cream until simmering, then pour over dark chocolate chips, stirring until smooth.

Serve

  • Serve churro bites warm with chocolate dip.

Notes

Ensure your dough is not too wet; it should be thick enough to hold its shape when piped. Allow the churros to cool for a minute before tossing in the cinnamon sugar to avoid the sugar melting. Experiment with the chocolate dip by adding a dash of vanilla extract for enhanced flavor. If you want extra crispy churros, consider doing a second round of frying for a minute. For a unique flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg to the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
